I am a third year student studying at Emily Carr University of Art + Design and majoring in Illustration. Colour is what I remember most when I move through space, it fuels my work and brings it to life. My work attempts to reveal details hidden in the everyday, brought to life by colour and captured in the medium. I try to bring new beauty to the familiar objects we see around us, transforming them into something greater than what they appear, to disclose their magnificence.
I’m a material-based artist, I love the connection between the materials and myself. When working hands-on, I get to experience, feel and manipulate different mediums. Every session is a new experience, a new way to use that material. Three dimensional forms of art have also started making their way into my creative field. As I’m growing as an artist, new ways to experience material and new ways to express myself are becoming more important. I am always creating art with the interest in learning how to use material to the fullest of its ability.
My goals are to be able to tell a story through my illustrations. I hope to use my passion for illustration to communicate and share with my viewers a sense of wonder in everyday, common objects. I want to inspire people to see beauty in places they may not expect and, most importantly, as a growing artist, I wish to get better at uncovering and capturing that beauty.
